@aaronpk I suggest for Postponed, it be the Angle Double Right Icon | Font Awesome and to use something like blue.

    Aaron Parecki
That just might work! I'll give it a try

@aaronpk, did you just get ads on your website or is my phone infected by malware?!
    Aaron Parecki
After a post gets over a certain amount of views I add an ad banner at the bottom!

Friend: "I'm not big on linking my Switch to Twitter just so I can post #AnimalCrossing screenshots."

Me: "Oh gosh, neither am I. I've got a bash script which rsync's them across to my laptop from the SD card."

    Friend: "..."

    Friend: "Of course you do."
    Aaron Parecki
I made a separate Twitter just for #ACNH, and then I pull them from that Twitter and post them on my own website! @switch_pk

Perfect! So I would need two of these. One at the source (projector on stage) and then one by my setup to convert back.

    Awesome! You've been a huge help! <3
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah exactly. You might shop around a bit too cause sometimes the one-way converters are cheaper. Both those devices linked will convert both ways, but you could use a separate HDMI->SDI and SDI->HDMI device if that is cheaper.

OK! So the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter is what I would want for that then, right? To convert that back into HDMI and into the mini?

THANK YOU For being such a big help! <3 <3

Yep that should work! Decimator makes one too: https://amzn.to/2WlNH5K I haven't actually used that BMD one myself.

AH!!! So that'd be the Decimator piece you had. Gotcha. And then that went into another box by your setup. What box was that? I'll check the video here in a bit.
    Aaron Parecki
Yep! The Decimator both converts from HDMI to SDI and also scales it, which is handy on the larger ATEMs that don't handle scaling themselves. On the other end, you'd need SDI->HDMI back in to the ATEM Mini if you're doing that.

OK, is there a device that will allow me to have something like an 80ft cord? Like with your conference you went from the projector to the back of the room.

Still learning all of this, I won't need to get to your level just yet but I think this will be a great venture! :D
    Aaron Parecki
Wireless is also an option, but don't get any wireless transmitters under $300 because they'll be super laggy.

There are some active HDMI cables that can amplify the signal, or also HDMI repeaters, but it'll probably take some trial and error to find ones that work with your cameras. The "pro" version is to convert to SDI and back, which can go up to 300 feet.

@aaronpk Hey Aaron! Just wanted to say THANK YOU for all the videos you're putting out. :D I just picked up the ATEM Mini Pro. As a wedding photographer, things have gotten a bit, hectic.. So I am offering streams now. I had a question though, how long can I run and HDMI cord?
    Aaron Parecki
Thanks! HDMI cable length is pretty limited, and unfortunately there's no hard and fast rule. It depends on the cable itself as well as the strength of the signal put out by the camera. Generally you won't get more than 20 feet in the best case scenario though.

Awesome, thanks! Please chime in on the existing issues if it's something you're interested in, it helps me prioritize the features!

    I don’t understand.
    Aaron Parecki
It's not a good argumentative technique:

"A straw man is a form of argument ... based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent."

Oh, how is it particularly evil or capitalist to have the concept that something existed before something else?
    Aaron Parecki
because it's literally defined as existing before health insurance. don't strawperson this argument.

I'm trying to route sound from a Focusrite audio interface through the headphone output and lightning adapter into an iPhone to use with the video app, but it's not detecting the signal as a microphone

    Am I out of luck?

    Aaron Parecki
you might need one of those TRS-TRRS adapter cables, but I'm not actually sure how the iPhone deals with the headphone level rather than the normal level from mics

I wonder if it's related to this notification I got in December 2019?
    Aaron Parecki
Yes very likely. The problem was it wouldn't let me add an app specific password even. The problem cleared up later so they clearly made a mistake rolling that out.

@aaronpk No, I think the github oauth + limiting to a single user would work fine. I just wonder why you didn't start with a naive user+password table first. Sure, doing proper and secure auth is not trivial.

    Aaron Parecki
I just don't like passwords, and most of my uses of this are for multi-author editing where I definitely don't want people to have to have another password. I suppose the password option is easiest for a single-user setup though.

@aaronpk yep, just me as the single author. Public, but read-only.

    Aaron Parecki
That's definitely a challenge with a web UI for editing then. I see why you were looking for something where you create events by making files on disk, that removes that concern.

You could use the "remote user" auth option to set that header in your web server by matching your home IP address or something.

I'm also open to suggestions for how to make this work better in this kind of single-author case because it's not uncommon!
