I'm looking forward to watching this, but I'm also frustrated because no one seems to have it in stock so I might actually buy it...
    Aaron Parecki
@DVEStore still has them in stock! I wish they had a referral program for all the links I've sent their way! https://www.dvestore.com/blackmagic-design-atem-mini/

What parts do still require you to restart Home Assistant?
    Aaron Parecki
Usually adding new sensors in the config file. Things don't seem to get picked up properly with the various subsystem restart buttons.

Do you have any HDMI to SDI you like? I'm actually in the market?
    Aaron Parecki
The BlackMagic micro converters, or the Panlong brand, which I'm pretty sure are generic clones of something that's probably available under 5 different names. But they do work.

Sure. I can’t get over the scalers. And apparently the keyer is incredible.
    Aaron Parecki
It really is! So much better than the TV Studio!

Yeah that's my one disappointment so far; no multiview.
    Aaron Parecki
yeah it's a little unfortunate, but I think only people coming at it from the higher end switchers will care. If you think of it like a glorified HDMI capture card then it makes sense why they don't have it.

I'm so dumb. I forgot that I had the ATEM Mini coming. This would have been PERFECT for that. Grrrr oh well. Don't need it don't need it don't need it.
    Aaron Parecki
on the plus side, there's no multiview on the ATEM Mini, so you're probably going to want to hook up an HDMI recorder to it anyway so the large screen isn't really important 🤷‍♂️

Almost every video of mine has examples of me using it for B roll.

Parallax is great and does absolutely look better, but I've content to crank out with limited space and time so I'm willing to sacrifice the parallax for the convenience.
    Aaron Parecki
Now I'm curious if you've thought about an Edelkrone kit. You can get a small rig and it's all effectively point and shoot. I've been super tempted but it adds up quick 💸

Sure, I’ve seen those. Must be really curious people who think that of the millions (billions?) of customers Amazon has, that one of them asked THEM.
    Aaron Parecki
Judging by the grammar and spelling of the replies, it doesn't surprise me all that much tbh

Why do random people feel inclined to answer “I don’t know” to questions posted on product pages, i.e. on Amazon? Someone asks “does this xxx?” and invariably someone will answer that they don’t know. Do they believe the question was asked of them directly?! So weird.
    Aaron Parecki
I can't find an example now, but Amazon sends an email something along the lines of "someone has asked you a question about a product you've purchased" and it really does sound like the question was asked to you directly!

Sorry to anyone who's just received a tonne of webmentions from me - I'm tweaking the way the sending works so there are a few new places you may see them come from

    Aaron Parecki
I've been seeing them come from your tag pages, which is an interesting idea. I'm going to have to figure out how to filter those out tho.

How are the new OAuth2 things going to impact IndieAuth if at all?

    Aaron Parecki
The biggest change is that really every IndieAuth server and client should support PKCE. A few of them do already. I'll make a list of other recommendations as well.

They are here! https://oauth.net/events/2019-11-ietf106/minutes.php Tho I suppose I should email that to the list as well.

I meant more like have the 4 poles vertical as a base and then hook up a clamp system to include like a square horizontal frame.
    Aaron Parecki
ooh then I don't see why not! Now I wonder if I have enough space to pull that off here... my main limiting factor has always been how much floor space tripods and stands take up.

Actually could I get 4 of the varipoles and create like a square shaped rigging system that would basically eliminate the need for any stands in my space?

    Does anyone do this?
    Aaron Parecki
I suspect the tension rod isn't rated for perpendicular loads. But if I'm wrong, I would be thrilled, because I've been looking for a way to get a horizontal rod in this apartment that doesn't require drilling massive holes in the ceiling.

This is misleading. The OAuth WG did not yet agree to do a 2.1 revision, and there's not yet a TxAuth working group. I want both of those things but it's not reality quite yet.
    Aaron Parecki
I can get it changed to say "a potential 2.1". What's the right term for the TX Auth group right now then? https://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/txauth/about/

You do mean future hardware, right?
    Aaron Parecki
Of course! If they can pack the scaling hardware into the cheapest model it seems like a no brainer to add it to all future higher end models too.

Ok, now I know why I got this. It’s got a damn scaler built in. I’m feeding it a G9 @ 1080p30, a GH5 @ 1080p24 and an iPad @ 1080p60 right now and it’s switching between them seamlessly. My $4,000 ATEM doesn’t do that. Hot damn.
    Aaron Parecki
    It's so good!

I'm hoping this means the updates to the rest of the ATEM line also get scalers on every input!
