Why, when you unsub from some mailing lists (usually ones you never signed up for) do they feed you this BS line about โ€œmay take ten days to unsubscribe youโ€. Really? So my unsub request went to a really busy guy who will have to locate my email address manually and erase it? ๐Ÿคฏ

omg I just saw an excellent twitter thread about this the other day https://twitter.com/joe8bit/status/1156312965265707013

Another Canon related question for the twitter verse today.

If you plug two condenser microphones into the c100/c200 xlr inputs can you get them both on mono recording?

Iโ€™d want to use this as a streaming camera and not buy an additional mixer.
    Aaron Parecki
Merge the audio in the video switcher! The ATEM Mini can do it! My video next week shows a demo!

Iโ€™ve tried it and itโ€™s kinda bad (for how I listen to music).
    Aaron Parecki
aw sad. I'm all in on Spotify right now but I kind of miss when I was more actively curating a music collection.

Iโ€™m so ready to move all my music to Plex. iTunes in Catalina is a mess.

Itโ€™s probably a bad idea to start a new project building a Plex client music player, right?
    Aaron Parecki
That's a fun idea. I haven't looked into this space at all in ages. Looks like Plex Labs has a thing maybe? https://medium.com/plexlabs/introducing-plexamp-9493a658847a

Happy WebAuthn for Safari on iOS day! iOS 13.3 is out! From the release notes (which you should quote instead of quoting me):
    - Adds support for NFC, USB, and Lightning FIDO2-compliant security keys in Safari
    Aaron Parecki
Oh this is very exciting! Can't wait to try it out!

Yโ€™all should look into git aliases. You write them in your home directory in a file named .gitconfig
    Aaron Parecki
That would require learning more git than I care to know ๐Ÿ˜„

But for real, that is cool though, probably a better long term solution.

Fun Fact: it's been almost six years since I started working on the Web and I still suck at git. I get by, but deep down I am secretly hiding the feelings of incompetence and terror I have whenever I use it. ๐Ÿ˜…

And I "secretly" hope I'm not alone! ๐Ÿ˜‚
    Aaron Parecki
    Same!

I made a bash alias to revert the last git commit because I can never remember that convoluted series of characters and I got tired of googling "git revert last commit".

    Now I can type `git oops`

Ooh what if they fell in love but didn't know who was behind the account?

Like, the manager of the Arby's twitter account is all "I think that whoever's running this Jiffy Lube campaign... is my soulmate"

And they start romantically sub-tweeting each other, but as the brands?
    Aaron Parecki
This has almost certainly already happened in real life

I mean its real bad. Has my video always looked washed out?

Coming home to the big computer is after my wave form revelation and now all my old footage looks like garbage. ๐Ÿคฎ
    Aaron Parecki
I never thought they did? Checked a couple old ones and they look fine. If anything, sometimes the background lighting is oversaturated and blows out one of the color channels.

Okay, just deployed a new version of Lwa . It comes with a lot of new little features but only direct replies work, lol. I'm refactoring how reactions work so you can properly syndicate them when desired. That'll personally help me syndicate a link to the Fediverse or Twitter when needed. I'm also going to add some general UX cleanup and begin working on the subscription components so Lwa can allow you to subscribe to content you see in your reader. Soon Aaron Parecki , you'll have one less user on Aperture! When my Microsub implementation works, the only thing I think I'll be leaning on you for is perhaps Watchtower and that's only until I finish Bondye (yet another project)! Viva la IndieWeb! Lol
    Aaron Parecki
๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm always happy to lose users to other platforms, that's how the IndieWeb grows!

ooh all four are thunderbolt! That probably adds a considerable amount to the cost of it!

    - The goal for USB4 is to clean up some of the mess.

So for example, there is no USB 3.1 hub with 3.1 ports, all you have is port expanders. I expect quite a few USB4 hubs, and for many to work with alt modes.
    Aaron Parecki
I look forward to buying all new devices and cables again in another 3 years

    I look at it as:
    - The goal for 3.0 was to increase the speed an order of magnitude, and set the stage for future increases
    - The goal for 3.1 was to create a single port to accommodate the need for devices like mobile phones and tablets to work without product-specific adapters
    Aaron Parecki
This is the kind of stuff that makes me glad I work in software standards and not hardware standards

I'm not going to hold Thunderbolt- a spec far older than USB-C- against USB-C.
But now that Thunderbolt has been rolled in to USB4, you damn well better bet I expect these things to start to improve. Somehow.

There better be some 4 port USB4 laptops showing up!
    Aaron Parecki
Oh gosh I hadn't heard about USB4 at all yet. Is it going to use the same port as C?

Itโ€™s so infuriating. And we gave up MagSafe for this crap.
    Aaron Parecki
What's really sad is my PC needs 100W which virtually no accessories can provide, so I need to plug in my USB-C hub *and* the laptop's charger anyway

This got me a bit curious so I looked up what the differences might be and lol, this is like a reverse XKCD comic. To be honest, the fact that one port can even mimic both of these options is amazing! But now, you have to run around with little lightning bolt stickers for your cables and hardware, lol.

    Aaron Parecki
It's so bad! And I have no idea which cables are which right now either so I'm gonna have a project ahead of me.
