I was *just* about to come back around and thank you and Remy for building these servies for starters. So thank you!

Yes, this is a partial failure of static sites but it still just feels like an over-engineered solution. I know lots of bloggers and so few of them use webmention
    Aaron Parecki
There's definitely room for someone to come in and build a better solution tailored to all the specific limitations of static sites! What you're seeing is the side effect of these solutions not having been built specifically with static sites in mind.

    - Set up IFTTT for RSS -> http://webmention.app to send webmentions

Fin? Maybe? I count 4 different web-apps necessary *and* two different code markups needed to get this all working correctly.

    Webmentions is a failed system.
    Aaron Parecki
Not sure I understand why this is "failed"?

I'm guessing you are using a static site generator. That's going to give you lots of problems trying to do anything dynamic, kind of by definition.

First time at the new concourse at LGA. Where is the ‘third world’ airport I knew so well?
    Aaron Parecki
ooh is it open? It was still under construction last time I was there!

So if my laptop starts rendering files in an acceptable way and I don't need to buy a new one...

That means maybe a new camera is still on the table for the channel funds that still need spent this year.

    I'm just saying 🤷‍♂️
    Aaron Parecki
"funds that needs spent" 😂 I know that tune. That sounds like someone who has a well-paying full-time job doing something other than making YouTube videos.

hey @aaronpk, thanks again for the great talk at #bsidespdx! Any chance you'll be sharing the slide deck? I wanted to review them again and there were some links in there I wanted to follow up on :)
    Aaron Parecki
Yes! They're posting the video soon and when they do I'll post a link to it and the slides!

    We have a window that’s something like 12 ft /4m x 6ft/2m. And it’s single pane. It’s gorgeous, but also, bye-bye heat!!
    Aaron Parecki
holy hell that is a massive window 🤯 That would do it!

In full winter we have to leave the heat on or pipes could freeze if it gets really bad. Oregon… we have real winters :-)
    Aaron Parecki
I forget these things living in a large apartment building where it seemingly can't get below 70 inside and I sometimes even find myself opening the windows in the winter because it's too warm inside

Internet controlled thermostats are pretty sweet. Landed SFO, home in a few hours, so time to turn the heat back on!
    Aaron Parecki
😮 it gets down to 48 inside your house?? That must be an expensive heating bill

Had the Lumix S1H in my cart ready to pull the trigger...

Then remember my current laptop doesn’t even like rendering 4K in a reasonable timeframe.

So I emptied the cart defeated 😭

Gotta bite the bullet and switch to Premiere so you can eventually switch to Windows and get a beefy machine! I switched a year ago and I don't really miss Final Cut anymore.

‪I’m finally playing more with Shortcuts on iOS. It’s super impressive but hampered by shortcomings in apps’ actions. It’s a lot like AppleScript that way!‬

    Aaron Parecki
@rosemaryorchard helped me understand Shortcuts at the last IndieWebCamp and I'm super impressed! I've been hooking up some cool workflows to post stuff to my site with them!

Ok today is the first time I’m regretting the 13inch MacBook.

You add a couple grades and the 3.7gb final video takes an hour to render.

Probably going to have to get a 15inch this weekend I’m not doing this again.
    Aaron Parecki
This is the kind of thing that's making me reconsider Apple completely now. I don't want to carry something as big as the 15 inch!

You know that somewhere, somehow some glorious Linux geek is building a hacked together alternative out of a Raspberry Pi, a 3d printed rubber strap and a ton of solder...

I feel like I should be upfront: I am not a gamer.

However, I did procure the new @Razer Blade Stealth 13" ultrabook with a dedicated graphics card (GTX 1650). The intent was for a backup laptop for coding and video editing.

...but I kinda want to play a game now. Suggestions?

Bit the bullet and ordered the Bose Noise Cancelling 700 headphones after feedback from followers. Early testing? They’re beautifully designed, comfortable, easy to set up, and the noise canceling is superb. Sound doesn’t blow me away, but is solid. Keeper! 🎧
    Aaron Parecki
Keep an eye when charging them the first few times! I was just talking with someone who had the charging port melt from overheating.

Reasonably happy with my current “IndieWeb” setup, although I’ve deliberately not implemented things that are probably considered part of it—likes, replies, etc. (Also, not sure if I should be relying on 3rd-party [backfeed] services, and it ain’t exactly plug-and-play.)
