Internet controlled thermostats are pretty sweet. Landed SFO, home in a few hours, so time to turn the heat back on!
    Aaron Parecki
😮 it gets down to 48 inside your house?? That must be an expensive heating bill

Had the Lumix S1H in my cart ready to pull the trigger...

Then remember my current laptop doesn’t even like rendering 4K in a reasonable timeframe.

So I emptied the cart defeated 😭

Gotta bite the bullet and switch to Premiere so you can eventually switch to Windows and get a beefy machine! I switched a year ago and I don't really miss Final Cut anymore.

‪I’m finally playing more with Shortcuts on iOS. It’s super impressive but hampered by shortcomings in apps’ actions. It’s a lot like AppleScript that way!‬

    Aaron Parecki
@rosemaryorchard helped me understand Shortcuts at the last IndieWebCamp and I'm super impressed! I've been hooking up some cool workflows to post stuff to my site with them!

@aaronpk I'm going to have to delete all my Fitbit clouded data.

    Aaron Parecki
I know right? Tho who knows if deleting is actually deleting now.

Ok today is the first time I’m regretting the 13inch MacBook.

You add a couple grades and the 3.7gb final video takes an hour to render.

Probably going to have to get a 15inch this weekend I’m not doing this again.
    Aaron Parecki
This is the kind of thing that's making me reconsider Apple completely now. I don't want to carry something as big as the 15 inch!

You know that somewhere, somehow some glorious Linux geek is building a hacked together alternative out of a Raspberry Pi, a 3d printed rubber strap and a ton of solder...

I feel like I should be upfront: I am not a gamer.

However, I did procure the new @Razer Blade Stealth 13" ultrabook with a dedicated graphics card (GTX 1650). The intent was for a backup laptop for coding and video editing.

...but I kinda want to play a game now. Suggestions?

Bit the bullet and ordered the Bose Noise Cancelling 700 headphones after feedback from followers. Early testing? They’re beautifully designed, comfortable, easy to set up, and the noise canceling is superb. Sound doesn’t blow me away, but is solid. Keeper! 🎧
    Aaron Parecki
Keep an eye when charging them the first few times! I was just talking with someone who had the charging port melt from overheating.

Reasonably happy with my current “IndieWeb” setup, although I’ve deliberately not implemented things that are probably considered part of it—likes, replies, etc. (Also, not sure if I should be relying on 3rd-party [backfeed] services, and it ain’t exactly plug-and-play.)

The music didn't happen while I was talking and again, it wasn't "too" loud. I normalize my audio to maintain a constant perceived loudness. So if the music was too loud, so was my talking. But again, my issue was the "commercial" part. Have you seen the video? The new Fuji one?
    Aaron Parecki
Looks like you're gonna have to start doing that on Twitter too. Maybe a purple card for "did you actually watch the video"

Correctly using bookmarks (instead of reposts)

    Aaron Parecki
hm I'm confused. Usually we use "repost" to mean the same thing as what Twitter calls "retweets". That section you linked to is pretty confusingly worded, but means to say that if your bookmark is *only* an entire duplication of the thing being bookmarked, then it's really a repost instead. In any case, I looked at a few of your recent bookmarks and they are what I would expect, so I guess it's sorted?

@aaronpk sadly doesn't look good, I'm still at my parents in Germany half way from Poland to Switzerland. I'll arrive tomorrow afternoon most probably but then I don't want to leave immediately again. Any other day you'd be free?

    Aaron Parecki
Ah too bad! I will be free Thursday evening too! Heading home Friday morning tho.
