Yeah, no iMessage on my number is definitely weird. Also some companies like Uber and US Bank refuse to believe my number is real.

Will convert my phone number to google voice number and just use google voice for phone calls and non iMessage texts.

As someone whose primary number has been a google voice number for the last 10 years, I can say I like it but does come with some odd side effects

Yes! That's gonna be a huge upgrade! I was using a 6S until last year, I'm on the XS now so I can't really justify upgrading again even tho I kinda want to!

while this wasn't in #Amsterdam, and I ended up walking with my bike for the most part IIRC, this is how I picked up a free #microwave here in #Bodø, #Norway:

I attached a vegetable #crate to the back of my #bike and stuck the microwave oven in it. Forgot to bring more rope to properly secure the oven in it though, but it survived the trip, and has served us well for over a year now :)

Excellent! I've seen so many crates like that attached to bikes here!

wow, a three color eink display? haven't seen that before

"three color" -- black, red, and white (no color). kind of misleading IMO.

I actually used the "two color" version, black and white.

thanks! what's the epaper display you were using?

It was the Waveshare "HAT" version for the Pi Zero. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the whole contraption ends up being almost an inch thick. I'm going to try it again using an esp32-e-paper combo device that's as thin as just one board!

@aaronpk hey! the eink/raspizerow thing you showed at XOXO, is it open-sourced somewhere? would love to do something similar

I haven't published the actual code I used, but it's all based on the examples from Waveshare anyway: https://github.com/waveshare/e-Paper

The real work was in gathering the data in the first place, then it's a matter of drawing rectangles on the screen.

Maybe I'm the only one.

Sometimes I scroll thru all my apps and put my phone away and then open the exact same app on my iPad 🤦‍♂️

Depends largely on where in the airport you're buying your coffee for sure. In most cases coffee you buy at the "kiosks" on the station platforms will in most cases be not as good as the coffee you can find at the coffee places within the station itself. Matter of how space they have within their little booths probably. Welcome back to Europe by the way!

I actually went out of the way to find a shop with a real espresso machine instead of one of the electronic push-button ones!

my trick is to always order an americano, it won’t be “good” but it will be less bad

That's my go-to as well. Took me a little bit to realize it's called a "long black" in Australia tho!
