What do you use if not a computer? We've had the same thing happen to us with Wirecast.
    Aaron Parecki
@rayterrill Dedicated hardware: https://aaronparecki.com/2016/10/08/15/multi-camera-portable-live-video That hardware also won't randomly try to install Adobe updates during an event.

Lost a bit of the #indieweb demo recordings yesterday because Wirecast crashed! This is why I don't like using computers for livestreaming!

Thankfully @martijnvdven was watching remotely and took very thorough notes in text! https://indieweb.org/2017/Demos

An aside: I've stopped displaying brid.gy webmentions publicly on my site at http://werd.io. Facebook friends were complaining. #indieweb
    Aaron Parecki
Interesting, complaining that their comments are being taken out of Facebook? I assume they were public posts and public comments tho.

@chrisaldrich @realkimhansen Maybe webmention a hub site? I think there's something to be said for setting up central topic-specific hubs.
    Aaron Parecki
I am super interested in topic-specific hubs. That's the main goal of a new project I have brewing! My first attempt at this is https://news.indieweb.org but I want to make it easier to submit things as well as easier to create new hubs!

I have toyed with it in the past using WithKnown but stopped because no one was responding (i think) but I'll look into it again
    Aaron Parecki
@closetgeekshow at the very least, it allows you to own your data while still talking with people on twitter, like this! check my last link!

    @-mentioning people on my blog

    Aaron Parecki
    Awesome!

If your webmention sender looks at the rendered HTML to find links, then you won't have to add anything special for this syntax! That's how I handle it on my site, since some of my posts are plaintext source and I don't want to match @-names and URLs in totally separate code paths.

I have an extra Baofeng UV-5 (or some variation) if that's what you seek.
    Aaron Parecki
@tomas_quinones I don't think those pick up the 88-108 broadcast range, do they? Anyway I want something consumery for this.

The weird thing is that a lot of phones have an fm radio in, but it is disabled
    Aaron Parecki
I've heard that. I don't think I can get a phone with a radio cheaper than I can get a plain radio tho.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
