credmentions: a distributed ledger for the #indieweb

    Aaron Parecki
I totally missed seeing this when you posted last June! Probably because I was in the middle of preparing for IndieWeb Summit. I'd love to prototype this!

Sorry it's intentionally obfuscated in a (perhaps paranoid) attempt to avoid it being used to 'host' nefarious text..

@theosanderson I just figured out the encoding scheme πŸ˜‚πŸ”πŸ‘

@theosanderson oh I guess that makes sense. I was wondering if it's a huffman-like lookup table or more like base64 encoding.

@obra oh no, I misread your original post and thought you meant 1pm Pacific time! Are they really all sold out now?

This is one of the very few things which provoke me to switch from Firefox to Chrome. It looks like some virus or something which you get on Windows all the time. But I'm on Linux and don't expect something like this. According to the Internet this is legit Mozilla spam.

    Aaron Parecki
oof that's bad. Especially since it appears inside the content pane, since it could very well be a malicious site putting that banner there. If it appeared outside the content pane then at least you could be sure it was from the browser itself.

@aaronpk thanks! Drone and trompette (buzzing) sound are acoustic, the melody is just the synth. Magnets in the keys + hall effect sensors on a board underneath, a magnetic rotary encoder on the shaft controlling noteon/off and expression, and an arduino inside the keybox putting it all together and sending MIDI signal out. The whole thing is built into the instrument, which also works great acoustic or amplified. There are a lot of improvements to make, but I think this is a good start!

    Aaron Parecki
    That's amazing! I'm super impressed.

.@dudeluna @BikeIndex there's a chunk of spectrum (close to 900mhz) unlicensed that this uses. Didn't get that granular in article :)
    Aaron Parecki
@stolenbikereg @bikeindex I was looking for this info but didn't see it on their site. How did you find out the frequency? Great review!

    Day 32: new repost policy

    Aaron Parecki
This seems like a reasonable approach for reposting articles. I haven't actually found myself wanting to repost whole articles yet. I usually either bookmark them and include a blockquote from them, or post a short sentence from the article and link to it. You should add your examples here! https://indieweb.org/repost

spec in flagship OSS projects something that you ever do? Asking for a friend
    Aaron Parecki
@johnonolan As far as W3C, ideally everything in a spec has already been implemented by at least 2 ppl before it becomes part of the spec. Me personally, I've written a handful of libraries and OSS projects that use these specs, always for tools I use myself.

@johnonolan Vouch is much less widely implemented at the moment, but I'm excited to see it grow. Also excited for https://indieweb.org/private-webmention
