@Sneakyness frankly I wouldn't rely on OpenID to continue signing in to StackOverflow much longer, add more ways to sign in to your acct

@Sneakyness no, but OpenID is dying, which is what Stack Overflow uses. It's been getting less and less reliable :-(

okay I can definitely make Compass generate the image and send that in the Micropub request! I think I will make some settings so that you can customize what is included in the Micropub request, as well as choose the dimensions of the image to generate. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious I can make it so you can choose which map style to use! https://github.com/aaronpk/Static-Maps-API-PHP/#parameters

It's a little buried, but the API for drawing a line on the map in Atlas is documented here: https://github.com/aaronpk/Static-Maps-API-PHP/#paths

Before I create that URL, I first simplify the GPS points from the trip into a minimal line using the Ramer-Douglas-Peucker algorithm. http://www.loughrigg.org/rdp/ Right now that code lives in p3k and is used to generate a simpler version of the line before passing it off to Atlas. Do you think it would be useful to have an Atlas API that runs that algorithm?

@kylewm definitely lol. I just wanted to jot that down (with the correct timestamp) so I could find it again later. I tried adding context to the post but couldn't figure out a short enough way to describe the backstory! It would make a funny youtube sketch tho!

@aaronpk @bretolius does the new stuff finally specify an email discovery mechanism? I still strongly maintain that URLs simply don't work.
    Aaron Parecki
@blaine @bretolius The latest proposed Discovery draft does actually mention WebFinger and email discovery! https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-jones-oauth-discovery-00#section-2

@bretolius @aaronpk that was one of the motivations for webfinger. Instead, yeah, we just have a white-list of providers and some detection.
    Aaron Parecki
@blaine @bretolius If any of the new OAuth2/OpenID Connect stuff ends up widely deployed it will solve that. We can hope for the best.

@octothorpe @codebear Yes, the mechanism is very similar to Pingback, but without the XMLRPC

sad to see that the new @w3c "Webmention" ignores @theiana #RFC 5988 registry for link relations on the web. time to sort this out, fellas.
    Aaron Parecki
@dret We were following the lead of the HTML5 spec in referencing the microformats rel registry.
