    @aaronpk @kylewm2 -- it's designed so you can quickly scroll through all the items.

    @davewiner @kylewm2 That's awesome. But why limit to blog posts? Why not also include the short title-less updates people post on their sites? e.g. https://kylewm.com http://tantek.com my site, and many others.

    The wordpress plugin will need to be able to accept an access token in the HTTP header and verify it. The short path to implement this is to use the token endpoint I run at https://tokens.indieauth.com, that way you can just avoid all token management for now, and add that in to the plugin later.

    @kylewm2 -- one more thing -- https://github.com/scripting/river4 -- this is a big deal. i would love to see indieweb get behind it.

    @davewiner @kylewm2 That's awesome, like a Planet but without the full text? Makes it much easier to read!

    Aaron Parecki
    @davidmead It looks like you're sending https for the target but your site links to my http URL. I should probably fix this to accept it regardless of the mismatch, but that's the reason.

    @davidmead Great work! It sounds like you should send a pull request for your changes to the Known plugin! I bet many others would benefit from the changes too! #indieweb

    Is it just me or is the author using the term "Uncanny Valley" completely wrong? Ignoring the silly Pixar story, I still don't understand how voice recognition (or more accurately, speech recognition) is currently in the uncanny valley.

    You know when your GPS says "recalculating" in a condescending voice? That's the uncanny valley of text-to-speech.

    @oscargodson @aaronpk That’s demonstrably false and I move to strike.
    Aaron Parecki
    @holman @oscargodson I haven't actually heard of the term being used like that. I've only heard it in this context: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley

    @aaronpk I don’t think that’s true.
    Aaron Parecki
    @holman It's from a 1970 paper by a Japanese roboticist http://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/robotics/humanoids/an-uncanny-mind-masahiro-mori-on-the-uncanny-valley http://web.archive.org/web/20110313073609/http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fl20110310jk.html

    @aaronpk It was initially disclosed in Ed Catmull’s “Creativity, Inc.”
    Aaron Parecki
    @holman but the concept of the uncanny valley is way older than that

    We’ve reached the Uncanny Valley, and everyone except these fucking computers knows what I’m talking about.

    Aaron Parecki
    @holman While I agree with your points, that's not really the meaning of "uncanny valley." And what's with the Pixar story??

    @aaronpk Agreed. Desktop apps that try to update on launch are the worst. I'm interested in finding gentler update notification styles.
    Aaron Parecki
    @maxticket Maybe an indicator that a new version is available or that a new feature was launched rather than actually interrupting the app

    @aaronpk Is there a more effective, less intrusive way you'd prefer? Do you know of any examples?
    Aaron Parecki
    @maxticket I think the problem is that I often don't open an app until I need it, so anything that gets in the way of me doing the thing is annoying.
