@HackerNewsOnion @gilesgoatboy At @tildeio we've had our .io suffix since 2011! It's not actually part of our name, though.
    Aaron Parecki
@wagenet So what you're saying is... you were using .io before it was cool. #hipster

@t @benwerd Yeah The Fox does a number on my voice, but not as much as Rammstein's "Du Hast" (while simultaneously properly translating it to English for people!)

@aaronpk iOS, right? And Google Maps app has access to your location data? Like iOS 7 itself it could be assembling frequent haunts.
    Aaron Parecki
@incanus77 Indeed. Here's what iOS7 thinks of me. I just don't see how Google Maps could be passively gathering enough information to make it that accurate.

@aaronpk It might not be using something as proactive as checkins e.g. could be using common places via latent tracking?
    Aaron Parecki
@incanus77 It's just so weirdly accurate! Also I don't usually use Google Maps to get directions to those places cause I know where they are, and I don't have an Android phone so they can't really do passive tracking...

@aaronpk Doesn't SHA HMAC fit the bill? Depends on a shared secret, otherwise, pretty groovy.
    Aaron Parecki
@peat Yeah that seems to be the general consensus, but still leaves questions like which headers to sign, is the entire post body signed or a hash of the body, what does the Authorization header look like, etc. I did find this, http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-cavage-http-signatures-00, but not sure what the status of it is.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
