@BarnabyWalters @aaronpk the reason I can offer is no more than: before github, git was far from being the most popular version control sys
    Aaron Parecki
@brennannovak @BarnabyWalters I guess I don't see the app•net :: git analogy, it seems like they are just making a proprietary service.

@aaronpk the difference with what @daltonc is building is- what Github is to Git, where as StatusNet is like Git (a rad open source app)
    Aaron Parecki
    @brennannovak I guess I don't see the decentralization/federation in http://t.co/FR9elbbP's proposal.

@ablaze @daltonc Sounds like it's starting in response to Twitter's TOS changes, like how Diaspora was started after FB's privacy issues.

@aaronpk yes, it is a rad project by @daltonc you should donate as well, as it may be something instrumental in the #IndieWeb taking off!
    Aaron Parecki
@brennannovak @ablaze @daltonc Why not build off of StatusNet? Seems like the problem has largely been solved by them already.

@caseorganic you should donate to https://join.app.net
    Aaron Parecki
@brennannovak I don't want to leave Twitter unless it's to a decentralized solution. Guess I don't see the benefit of app•net that way

@aaronpk I now have an immense heap of points. Do you happen to have some advice for a good kml to svg converter? http://t.co/4ncxzkwq
    Aaron Parecki
@paulswagerman That's awesome! I don't know of a good kml->svg converter, but chances are you can find one if you Google it.

@aaronpk tested geoloqi tracks imported as gpx in google earth, any idea why the lines form a 3d shape? totally freaky! http://bit.ly/NcaRyw
    Aaron Parecki
@paulswagerman Cool! It's the altitude data! Altitude in phone GPS is not that accurate. I think there's a "flatten" option in Google Earth.

@aaronpk Also, any idea why we're getting ECONNREFUSED when checking the token?
    Aaron Parecki
@julien51 That one is strange! I will have to look in to it further.

@aaronpk Ho, ok, so why no support for FB or others then?
    Aaron Parecki
@julien51 Facebook doesn't display the rel-me link for logged-out visitors. The content is wrapped in a comment block, so it's invisible.

    Aaron Parecki
@julien51 I have to register an OAuth client for each service supported. Check out https://indieauth.com/ for more details.

@aaronpk StatusNet is a social network and not just a feed-reader, we look for a unique human or group in the feed. IRC logs might not work.
    Aaron Parecki
@evanpro Guess I'm having trouble getting it to recognize a "unique human or group". Does it look for an hcard or some other markup?
