If this does what it says it does, this solves a need for something I've been thinking about writing for a while: http://www.handoffapp.com/
    Aaron Parecki
@incanus77 That looks awesome! I wish they had an Android version, I'd use it all the time!

@aaronpk FYI deliciousxml is broken ATM, the oauth link spits a notice
    Aaron Parecki
@ozh Thanks for catching that! It was broken when visited with "www" in the domain due to Yahoo's security settings. Fixed now!

OMG Delicious.com, could you make this export file any more horrible? If someone working for me in 1997 wrote HTML this bad they'd be fired.
    Aaron Parecki
@evanpro Yea it's pretty bad. The XML file is decent, though. Try http://localhost I used it to make http://aaron.pk/bookmarks/

Too many ideas and not enough time...
    Aaron Parecki
@chrismatthieu Agreed! I wish there was a way to make time out of thin air.

@kchrist I mean I *could* make something from scratch, but I like the idea of this code being useful to others because it's based on WP

@kchrist everybody keeps saying that, but there are a lot of benefits: post by email, bookmarklet, easy to extend...

Twenty Links, a Delicious-inspired Twenty Ten child theme: http://links.sillybean.net/
    Aaron Parecki
@sleary That's fantastic! I was literally just now working on making this. You just saved me a ton of time! Thanks!

  • Stephanie Leary https://twitter.com/sleary   •   Dec 17
@aaronpk Certainly! Why can't people access the API directly, though?
    Aaron Parecki
@sleary If you created a delicious account after Yahoo bought it, you don't have a user/pass to access the API directly. Needs to OAuth.

@pat_ramsey Wordpress comes with a "Press This" FF bookmarklet. I currently use it for quickly adding things to a private WP install.

@aaronpk WP prob a bit overkill if just for links though. lately, i just use pinboard.in (antisocial) and twitter itself.
    Aaron Parecki
@sull It sort of seems like overkill, but OTOH I'm more hesitant to install unfamiliar software like scuttle.

@chrisorourke It uses Flash to make the audio connection, so prob not mobile Safari. It should work on Android browsers tho.

@aaronpk I used to have an open source Delicious clone running on a local install. I might have to revisit that and figure out what it was.
    Aaron Parecki
@erinjo Sounds neat. Actually I bet a Wordpress install with a carefully-crafted theme could function much like a personal Delicious.

@grigs What format is the backup?
    Aaron Parecki
@maxticket Exports to an HTML file that can be imported into browser bookmarks. There's also lots of meta info in the file.

@erinjo "Indefinitely Tuned" ... sounds like a great name for a track on "The Endless Music Project" album.'

@aaronpk Yeah some of that. Presenting data and analysis visually to convey info (either right or wrong) and how snap decisions get made.

I'm thinking about gathering some info and writing on the psychology of viewing data. Cool topic? Boring topic? Opinions? #measure
    Aaron Parecki
@erinjo Sounds interesting. Is that like how to lie with statistics?
