  • Busy day at the triplex today! The plumber came to finish up everything inside: Hung the mount for the bathtub spray head Attached the mixer valve for the shower Attached the pole for the shower head Moved the spigot for the roof mister Moved the sewer line for the loft to the lower sewer line the guys added a few months ago. That means no more pump for the laundry room sink and washer needed anymore! I also found cat5e wires in the utility room closet that were for the phone jacks in the loft, so I traced them and terminated them with network jacks so now there’s a network jack in the loft! Why didn’t I find this years ago? I just assumed it was cat3 wiring because it was for a phone. I’m also tackling some loose ends in the house, a few dangling network jacks I hadn’t finished yet. The drywaller finished the utility closet so I can put everything back together! Oh and the cleanup crew came and took out a bunch of trash and also took the temporary power pole!
  • Today I prepped for the drywall crew to come and patch up the walls in the utility closet. I moved the network wires inside the wall to a new location so there will be less exposed wires in the inside, and also moved the fiber cable into the ceiling so it isn't awkwardly draped through the room.

  • Today is the day! We are finally getting the permanent power hookup to the new house! I can't even believe how long I've been waiting for this. This is super important because it unblocks a bunch of other stuff from happening in order to finish the project. It looked like it almost wasn't going to happen there for a bit, but the crew pulled through! A very quick tree trim, an extra supply run to get thicker wire, and a quick reroute of the conduit for the main line and we're back in business. Also I just think it's really funny that the guy from the power company just ripped the meter off the side of the building while everything inside was still powered on. Seems like you might want to disconnect the load at the breaker before pulling potentially 200 amps off the wall but hey that's not my job.

  • Thank you for buying a bunch of my old gear! I made a run to the post office to get some boxes out!
  • This week I need to tackle this project! I need to remove everything in the utility room so the electricians can run a new main power line through the ceiling. Capturing this for the "before" photo.
