    The algorithm doesn't "punish" you. That myth kinda stems from creators that just chuck stuff at a channel without thinking about it.

    The system now takes into account shorts and long form views, so viewers that watch your shorts will get recommended longer videos & vice versa.

    Look at the most viewed videos when searching, 9/10 are very simple concepts with an extremely good reason to click.

    And unfortunately, it's not rocket science. We have very clear mathematical models of orbital trajectories. We have no such understanding of how to arrange humans at scale in a way that doesn't send into the ocean (perhaps literally). We only know enough to know it's hard.

    Good article! Small notes re Portland:

    1) It's true that in year 1 of our new zoning, ~1/2 of projects in low-density zones were still oneplexes, but almost all were in those first 6 months. In the second half of year 1, oneplex construction nearly halted in favor of 4plexes.
