I mis-clicked on one of my 150 open tabs and it happened to be a tab that's been open since 2019 with a paper that has a solution to the exact research problem I've been puzzling over today. This is the moment I've been waiting for and I've decided to never close any tabs again

I'm officially an old hater when it comes to frontend. Everything is slower by default. Nothing is actually easier than it was before. Things are still buggy af despite all the linting and type systems and build steps. And it's not even fun anymore. Sorry not sorry.

Parts of the crypto ecosystem are shaping up to be an extension of the current broken financial system it was aiming to replace, without the safe guards, and lets be honest, most of those regulations only limit how much harm can be done to you.

indieauth is a deceptively clever spec; still pretty rough around the edges but I do think this unlocks the final boss for identity (and thusly data) sovereignty

Web3 so far feels like people who only know Web2 trying to build Web1 from scratch. I truly feel we'd benefit if more Web3 folks researched existing decentralized projects: IndieWeb, IndieAuth, RSS, ActivityPub, Federated web, etc. We should be using these existing tools imo.

Some of us still like getting up on stage in front of a live audience.

It's getting more difficult to get speakers to show up for events. Once they gear up at home, they like it better without all the travel... which is really expensive.

Attendance also drops dramatically if there's an online option.
