If you’re trying to make content while you have a job you should consider simplifying your ideas.

If you’re a small YouTuber working a job and you’re spending more than 5 hours on a video, you’re probably making everything too complex to be sustainable… (thread)

    More wheat stats.

My personal favorite Misleading Wheat Stat is "Ukraine/Russia grow 25% of world wheat exports."

Why's it misleading? It's technically true, but doesn't mean what people think!

Missing wheat from the war is actually less than 1% of global wheat crop!

My big accomplishment of the week is testing negative for Covid (twice) and staying awake for 24.5 hours while traveling so I slept on local time. Now I’m back home and jetlag free the next morning!

Around fifteen researchers and critics have annotated @kevinroose's thinly-veiled cryptocurrency advertisement that ran in the @nytimes last Sunday. We try to provide the editorial scrutiny and critical perspectives that the piece so irresponsibly lacked.

If I don't get covid on this trip, it's a miracle - thanks only to vaccination. I'm trying to practice precautions (masking inside) but still eating indoors and outdoors is crowded like pre-pandemic.

Is there a good standard for representing a datetime+timezone as a string?

ISO8601 only stores the offset from UTC which isn't what I want - I'm looking to include things like America/Los_Angeles

This is a good call-out: since you can't predict future changes to timezone polygons, solving this problem perfectly likely requires saying "I will meet you on 5 March 2050 at 6pm in whatever timezone currently applies at 40.273502, -86.126976"

Several years into GDPR, it remains fucking bonkers in practice. Every site on the internet gets an awful pop-up that no one reads and clicks anything to make it go away as quickly as possible. It’s an idea that 100% backfired and is pointless and makes every website worse.
