At my last job, a team put up a poster for their reusable components. It said:

“We made a thing from scratch, so you don’t HAVE to make things from scratch.”

But when engineers read this, they see:

“We made a thing from scratch, so you don’t GET to make things from scratch.”

I’d still prefer for it to just go straight to the system browser as I’m usually already signed in there so it’s faster.

Robinhood is no longer allowing users to do anything but close out their #GME or #AMC positions. Hard to put into words how outrageous that is. This is, much more acutely, the definition of manipulating the market.

Hedge fund managers own yachts with heli-pads because they shift imaginary money around in spreadsheets all day while people who do real work struggle to pay the rent.

Short selling and short squeezing is not investing. Neither is speculating on hot stonks. Investing is a mostly unexciting marathon.

Thus reinforcing a core tenet of capitalism: massive financial institutions can profit off the pain of normal people, but normal people can never profit off the pain of massive financial institutions.

It's so very 2021 to have occupy wallstreet 2.0 take place on Reddit.

So Redditors working together on a stock is considered "market manipulation," but bankers crashing the entire world financial system with trash mortgage products in 2008 was acceptable enough that NOBODY went to jail?

The Gamestop situation is probably going to lead to more regulation of stock buying than all of the insider trading from members of Congress
