I agree with that description of what happened. That said, I think the core problem today is that RSS/Atom alone is no longer enough for us. We want to read, like, and comment without bouncing from site to site. The indieweb community uses webmentions and webactions for this.

This morning I made the top 25 leaders at @okta sit through an hour-long usability test of an areas of our products that have poor usability. Painful but the first step to fixing a problem is to recognize you have it.

I just walked away from a big contract. Another brand wanting the right to takedown a video at any time in the future, for any reason. They said β€œmany other influencers don’t mind” - who’s out here not reading their contracts and giving up this kind of power over your stuff? πŸ‘€

Just tried browsing Apple's website for the iPhone SE and it was borderline unusable. And I'm using Safari on a recent MacBook Pro. Tesla's website is no better. Scrolljacking is the new Flash and I want it to die.

Yes, some of this shit is expensive. But I spend A LOT (most?) of my life on it, and I haven't seen a restaurant, gym or vacation place in months... so, $ well spent IMO. YMMV!
