    me, writing an email:

hi. sorry for not getting back to you sooner. i hate replying to things. that doesn't mean i hate you! but i do hate your emails, because i have to reply to them. theres nothing wrong with the email. in fact i was overjoyed to read it! but now i am dismayed, because i must reply. it takes a lot of energy to write a reply to any email, so please dont take it personally. in fact i believe i am out of energy now.

    yours sincerely,
    josef

I've been doing a lot of #IndieWeb things recently which allow me to own my data a lot better - such as this tweet which is actually published to my site first, then gets syndicated to Twitter - been fun for many reasons

Weird to discover that what all the zombie apocalypse movies got wrong is how there’d be a bunch of dumbasses protesting the effort to stop the zombies.

Yes, my wife and I put our paychecks into a single account. We share everything. We "pay ourselves first." We each get a cash (or digital cash) allowance weekly and we can do whatever we want with it, no judgement. That's removed 90% of money arguments. https://www.hanselman.com/blog/RelationshipHacksAnAllowanceSystemForAdults.aspx

Watching adults argue over cell phones is like watching 5 year olds playing the one up game.

    “I got you!”
“Nuh uh I’ve got a magic shield!”
“My laser goes through magic shields!”

    Then a third kid.

“I don’t even want to play” (even though they keep taking about it)

I think network crews are purposefully downgrading the “at home experience” because they are afraid we might get used it and like it more. I know how easy it would be to double the quality.

I vastly prefer the home coverage over the overproduced shiny versions we used to see.

The purpose of automation is to allow shorter certs and the reasons for shorter certs are many. Also, automated processes are more reliable than human processes.

IndieWeb: The last (and only) online social site you’ll ever need—your own.

You don’t even need to “join it” because its something you can choose to own for yourself.

I know I’ve thought and probably said variations of this tagline many times in the past, but I’m not sure I’ve ever written it out. And perhaps it could be honed even further? It’s closely related to the idea that the IndieWeb is what you have when the Internet itself is your social media network.

It’s helped me that I have the capability to cobble together my own version. Eventually we’ll have lots more commoditized versions, but there are a few simple sign up and go options out there that don’t require as much tinkering if you’re interested.
