Just found a badly needed USB charging cable in my hoarder’s box of cables, so I guess what I’m saying is, if you’re lucky enough to have a box of cables in your life, hold on to it and never let it go.

What I love about the web: when there’s a new annoying hype, like microfrontends, you can simply ignore it for two weeks until it’s no longer hip.

People like @grantlovescars make fun of me for still using @swarmapp — then they ask the name of a restaurant we ate at 6 years ago and I know. Why? Because I have a log of the last decade of good places I’ve been.

This is a first… someone strapped the airplane’s front wheel to the tug before people got on; supposed to happen after. Now the strap is too tight. They have to unload half the plane to take the weight off and do it again 😂😂

I hadn’t seen this prior to some rabbit hole I went down. Nginx Unit https://unit.nginx.org Practically what it means is no more php-fpm to set up WordPress. But also means can run a node app & ruby app on same server if you want. Neat.

People sometimes suggest I should calm down about web performance because the web feels fine on *their* phone.

@DasSurma and I pulled a little data to try to visualise why that might be both true and not particularly relevant:

Last point about the graphs: included an Android Go device ( Nokia 2) because that spec is prevalent for first-time internet users. Gap between "what I get when I trade in my phone every 2 years" and the true low-end is now a gaping chasm, and even 5 years ago, that wasn't true.

    A few things I learned:
    1) Apple is using OAuth 2.0 and OIDC, same as others
    2) Some app makers *really* don't like the mandatory element of Sign In
    3) Apple changed its guideline language around placement of Sign In button in the time I reported this https://www.wired.com/story/sign-in-with-apple-mixed-reactions/
