We should built protocols that can be reused in various ways and complete the whole picture. You see something missing ? Then yes go on and create the missing piece. BUT FIRST, we should first try to use the existing protocols before reinventing the wheel.

One way to understand this boom is that as social media has siloed off chunks of the open web, sucking up attention, the energy that was once put into blogging has now shifted to email.” #indieweb https://www.wired.com/story/future-book-is-here-but-not-what-we-expected/

    #DevRel protip:

    1. Code a sample app
    2. Publish a blog post to show how you built it
    3. Build a demo script from the blog post
    4. Record a screencast of your demo
    5. Assemble a presentation from content
    6. Present at meetups and conferences

Summarizing my IndieWeb ideals in one tweet:

    1. Own a domain, and post your stuff to it, rather than to corporate “silos”. (You can syndicate to em, though.)

    2. Use Microformats2, semantic metadata embedded in HTML.

    3. Use Webmention, a protocol that lets sites cross-comment.

    Protip:

When designing a user interface, imagine some old woman using it, say Margaret Hamilton, and she's clicking your app's buttons and saying to you, as old people do,

"Young whippersnapper, when I was your age, I sent 24 people to the ACTUAL MOON with my software in 4K of RAM and here I am clicking your button and it takes ten seconds to load a 50 megabyte video ad and then it crashes

I'm not even ANGRY with you, I'm just disappointed."
