I have a sort of Mastodon Stockholm Syndrome where this starts to feel normal:
1. See a post (toot) in my app timeline, want to view all replies.
2. Open post.
3. Click "View in Browser" to see post on its home server, which includes all replies.
4. See a reply I want to favorite. Copy link to that reply.
5. Paste URL into search box on my home instance. This adds the post to my home instances database.
6. Fave reply.
My kingdom for restaurant websites which have a text-only one page version of the menu without so much javascript that google translate can't even parse it and nothing is copypastable. https://rhiaro.co.uk/2018/08/websites
Twitter has decided its a safe space for bigotry and hatred..
This doesn’t mean anyone else has to use it, so:
@aaronpk Haha so says another self-hosted instance-of-one user :)
As an aside, do you experience weird caching things? I do think most beginners should join a populated server because otherwise they are going to be seeing a lot of seemingly-blank profile pages when they click through to profiles of people who are mentioned that their instance hasn't interacted with before
