I READ ON THE INTERNET THAT HAND SANITIZER DOESN'T WORK ON VIRUSES, JUST BACTERIA. Good news, the internet is wrong! It works fine on viruses. If you have some, go ahead and use it. If you don't, use soap.

The world doesn't need another messaging app for groups. Yes? I definitely shouldn't build, like, a nice cross-platform one that doesn't sell your data. Like a private Slack for friends and family. I have all the pieces and it would take a week to beta, but, terrible idea. Right?

    Honestly?

The addition of the b-roll shots is great! I like how it mixes up the shots of you talking, and it's great to see closeups of what you're talking about.

The sound effects are a bit much. They are a bit loud, but they also don't correspond to visual cues right now.
    Aaron Parecki
If you're going to use a *whoosh* sound, then there needs to be a visual aspect to it as well rather than a hard cut.

But overall I like the new style! It's giving me some ideas for my videos too! If only I had as much space to set up a sweet b-roll station as you!

Question: Do you like the new video style? My original style I find is both boring to make and watch (my retention graphs agree). So I want more energy.

But I've gotten some push back on the shot choices and delivery. So I'm opening it up to the internet for feedback.

I think it possible is non-visibility of anything physical. So on a phone call, it is as if the phone is acting as an intermediary and introducing a third party, that is you.

I believe “this is Amit” will sound equally absurd on a video call? Because my visibility makes me the first party?

    Aaron Parecki
That makes sense. But today I had 8 different people introduce themselves that way in an in-person group setting. I've never had that happen before!

@aaronpk My theory: saying “this is x” on the phone, is a way to link the voice speaking to the name/person. “This voice you hear is x”. In person, they see your face talking, so saying “I’m x” is linking your face to your name more than your voice to your name, so expanding the phone phrase in person to “this face is x” is why it sounds weird.

    Aaron Parecki
This makes sense, which is why I was so thrown off when 8 different people introduced themselves by saying "this is X" in person today.

Why is it that I would introduce myself on a phone call by saying "Hi, this is Aaron", but it sounds absurd if I were to say that to your face?

Have security cameras everywhere. Insure everything. Don't make youtube videos showing off your location. If you are shooting inside your YouTube studio don't show out the windows. Don't shoot in your backyard. Delay instagram story posts. Otherwise you're a sitting duck.
