True, if we consider the amount of potential IndieAuth deploy targets (all the worlds Wordpress sites) the image looks far more rosy. I do think the new breed of desentralized apps/services (Mastodon, Riot/Matrix.org) should adopt IndieAuth as a good way to desentralize auth!

Tomorrow morning I'm joining @jlengstorf on Twitch and we're going to add user authentication to a @gatsbyjs site live! This will be my first time using Gatsby, so should be a fun ride!

This is great! Ah, it makes so much sense — I am envious of how you always come up with cool hack projects. Frankly speaking, it’s surprising no social network explored this fun concept. Kudos!

Thanks! It was a fun project! It was also quite a lot of work to shoot all those photos, which is probably why more people haven't already done this.

I would call the next episode of Micro @Monday “AMA” (Ask Manton Anything), but “anything” is way too broad a parameter. But do let me know what questions about Micro.blog you have. @manton will do his best to answer them! (You can email me at jean@micro.blog, too.)

I'm getting more and more convinced that rolling your own auth should be considered as unusual as operating your own data center. 99% of web apps should just use someone else's IdP, weather that's Google, Github, Facebook, SAML, w/e.
