    @aaronpk GrandStream HT802 works *great* for pulse dialing (optional mode). Have multiple rotary phones in operation using it. https://www.grandstream.com/products/gateways-and-atas/analog-telephone-adaptors/product/ht802

    I have thought about using a sidecar (wired) or handheld DTMF (acoustical) generator - they used to have such things. havn't done so yet

    That's the one I was testing with but I didn't realize it supports pulse dialing! The retro phone I got is actually sold new and supports tone dialing even though it has a rotary dial! https://opis-tech.com/en/opis-1921-cable-d

      no, i usually just get the real thing at thrift stores etc. main rotary looks about like this

      beware if you turn on pulse, then bouncing the hook will dial (working as designed)
