A pedestrian who has started crossing a roadway on a signal showing “Walk” or any other approved symbol to proceed shall proceed with dispatch to a sidewalk or safety island while a signal is showing “Wait” or “Don’t Walk”

If I punch someone just for the hell of it, would say they contributed to getting punched by not dodging?

I will admit I jumped to conclusions when you cited ORS 814 if you admit that it is victim blaming and wrong to say that the cyclists contributed to this incident at all

But I'm still waiting for you to point out where I said it's ok for a driver to plow through pedestrians

That's how they contributed to this incident. If they had been paying attention at the worst we're looking at a near miss.

As a cyclist or pedestrian you never take your attention away from potential hazards (approaching cars) because regardless of who is right or who is wrong, the cyclist and pedestrian will lose every time in a collision with a vehicle.

Acting as though the cyclists did anything unreasonable here is just not a good faith argument. I'm not sure what you wanted them to do differently. Keep in mind that if he *had* started crossing any earlier, the van would have hit more than his front wheel.

I'm sorry, please point out exactly where I said it was ok to plow down pedestrians.

The driver of van ran a red light…and you’re blaming the biker? Wtf? It’s scary as a biker that others hate us so much that they mentally jump hoops to side with the person who almost killed someone. Awesome.

I don't think I want to live in your world where it's perfectly acceptable to plow down pedestrians for entering the crosswalk the split second it starts counting down. That driver blew the red light, there's no situation in which a pedestrian or biker is at fault for that.

I saw that still and I asked him why they waited for the signal to start blinking don't walk.
