hmm span looks interesting but I'm skeptical because it relies on their cloud service. Do you know if it has local API access too?

  @aaronpk I don't know but I'd share that concern; I wonder if they have a good answer for "what if you go out of business?" It's not just losing data access, can you get replacement breakers in 30 years?
  There's several smart panel choices now. Span's a startup; Leviton also has one and I'd trust that company's long term viability. But I haven't researched them. Span has a lot of buzz.
