Ugh, I’m doing my roof and gutters. What is the best way to get solar panels? I assume the “for free” people are a bit scammy?

Don't go the "for free" route. It's not actually a scam, but it's basically an agreement that you'll keep the panels for a fixed period of time like 15-20 years, which can really mess things up for future owners of the house. Ask me how I know 😬🙃
