Cisco knows a thing or two about security and did not require VPNs to access email or company messaging on mobile devices. Presumably those go over TLS anyway.

They did require strong passcodes and a device profile that allowed them to remote wipe lost devices.

  If I’m choosing to put work data on a personal device, I’m OK with work having the ability to wipe that data. Until mobile OSes have fine-grained wipes, a nuclear hammer it is. I just made sure I kept everything always backed up so I could restore my personal stuff.
