In the IndieWeb world, you often sacrifice the wide distribution of social media. I feel like this is discussed a lot.

I don’t see a lot of discussion of the loss of good creative tools. Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok all make it easy to create fun content to share.

I'm not sure what you mean, https://indieweb.org/POSSE is a pretty central part of a lot of people's setups as a way to stay connected to the wider social media world.

There are plenty of tools (Adobe, Apple Clips, etc) for creating media outside of social apps.

Yeah I’ve been tossing that around in my head as well.

on the other hand, POSSE doesn't have to mean automatic POSSE. It's still a reasonable tactic to manually syndicate your content to platforms you care about that don't have an API.

True, that's one of the reasons I left facebook completely I guess. There are a lot of specialized video editing apps though! That's one of the reasons for Micropub, so that you can share out of any app into any website.

Sure— and I practice the same, ish (that post came from my site), but platforms have increasingly closed down in ways that make POSSE less effective (by not allowing syndication). On the creative side, very little seems as simple as say, building interesting Instagram Stories.
