I finally imported my amazon purchase history into my own database so I can search for past purchases by amount, which it turns out is a key component to how I do my accounting.

Previously I was searching my email for amounts then clicking thru to see the order details because amazon stopped including them in the email. So much less clicking now!

Why are programming errors and disease causing agents both colloquially known as "bugs"?

Because when the first programmer caught a cold, she was a sick Ada.

Someone on IRC points out that since USB-C connectors can detect their orientation, it would be possible to make a double-sided USB flash disk

Label it "Side A" vs "Side B"

It would also be possible to make a USB C device that doesn't work until you've flipped it around a couple times. For nostalgia's sake.

@aaronpk Wow what an awesome idea, I would love to do that. Do you mind if I ask how you accomplished that?

    Aaron Parecki
It's a hacky bit of code but it works. Amazon provides a CSV export of your orders, so I created a database that matches the columns in the CSV, then wrote an old-school HTML form to search a couple columns.

@aaronpk did you export it from amazon somehow, or grabbed it from your email archive? If exported from Amazon, how?

Go to "Your Account" and "Download order reports". Also this link might work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/b2b/reports

I know it's a small step. My plan is to change all the repositories under my control. I invite you to do the same. Alternatives can be "main," "primary," or "production." And, let's call on platforms like @github @gitlab and @Bitbucket to use better terminology.

At Hulu, we used to distinguish between "Originals" and "Exclusives" to denote which shows we'd funded and which we'd just gotten the rights to.

At some point, everyone in the industry just started calling them all Originals in their marketing. No idea why.
