I've bought 1/4"x1/16" neodymium magnets from Amazon before, but now all the listings are gone! Was there a magnet scandal I was unaware of?

["Instead, CPSC spent the past fifteen months going after Zucker in a case that few believed they would win but that certainly sent a chill through any company regulated by the CPSC. The message was clear: Speak out against the CPSC and the agency could come after your home, your family and all your personal assets."]

The Buckyballs company went out of business because of "safety" as well, even though Buckyballs were never advertised as toys, marketed to children, or sold in toy stores, and each package and container had printed/engraved safety warnings on them.. I was pretty irate when the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) went after the CEO directly as an individual, trying to personally damage him instead of litigating against the company.
I made a huge deal about it when it happened - but on the plus side Buckyballs (in protest) sold off their inventory at cost. Which is how I ended up ...

Ohh maybe that's unrelated then? Yeah those do look useful. I sure hope they weren't affected.

Wait were the small neodymium disc magnets also affected by this? They were never sold as toys, they were 1/16" thick which is really only useful to glue on to something else to turn it into a magnet. I glue them to old Mac keyboard keys https://www.instagram.com/p/4NGASiDclQ/

Pretty recent update here! http://zenmagnets.com/march-2016-update-whoa-we-won/ But they've been fighting for a while, and a lot of other companies that make them shut down because of legal trouble. Zen's stuck around. I've kinda been following along since I ordered direct from them a few years back. I think I lost all of mine at my last job/office... they have a way of finding themselves on everyone's desks.

Magnet mafia. They are the DeBeers of the magnet world, but far more attractive.
