Is it even possible to buy a TV that isn't smart? I want a screen I can plug things in to, not a computer with a terrible UI I can't change

I think ViewSonic makes some good quality dumb screens... or they did recently.

These days the computer interfaces act like TVs and the TVs act like computer interfaces.

Sounds like you want a monitor with HDMI input?

@aaronpk you want a commercial "monitor" used for in store displays. Often higher price but good viewing angles. I had a used LG for a while

@aaronpk had the same experience recently. the answer is no. i ended up with an LG because i thought it had the least offensive UI.

@aaronpk We bought a smart TV that doesn’t support WiFi. Comfortably dumb as long as you don’t plug in an ethernet cable :-)

@aaronpk It has HDMI? @KodiTV (on @Raspberry_Pi or old notebook) is easiest even for offline (usb-stick aud/vid/cbz)

@aaronpk If I were seriously into video entertainment, I'd invest in a good monitor and the right hardware to drive it.

@aaronpk My solution was a projector. They're all dumb devices, which is great for just playing content.

@isaac32767 I prefer to think of my TV as a giant monitor. Actually I'm using a 19" monitor right now so...

@aaronpk Apparently not. But do you really need a TV? I haven't turned on mine for months.
