It took almost 4 hours, but I finally moved everything from Gogs to Gitea. The migration path was not entirely smooth due to a combination of things, but I'm reasonably confident it is actually working now. Hopefully nothing unexpected surfaces later when I've forgotten everything I've done today. -
I had a couple hours in DC before my flight so I went to the International Spy Museum! It was a pretty fun collection of exhibits and random artifacts from the last couple hundred years of espionage history.

😱 Came home from a trip to a failed hard drive on one of my home servers. Time to put my backup system to the test!
💾 New drive is on its way, warranty return for the old drive is started.
☁️ Once the new drive arrives, I'll attempt to restore it from my local backup. With any luck, that'll work. Otherwise I'll have to get a drive mailed to me from Backblaze.

I replaced Monocle's Font Awesome SVG+JS icons with their SVG sprite icons and it loads soooo much faster now! There was always a visible delay while the JS loaded in the SVG icons. Now it's just handled by the browser with no JS.
I always assumed that it was a slow network causing the issues, but I opened up the browser tools to check and it turns out the slowdown was happening while rendering the page, not when fetching external data. Goes to show it's a good idea to open up the browser tools once in a while to check out what's happening under the hood! -
