Apple is clearly up to more than they revealed with HomeKit in iOS 8 today. An iPhone can't control your home lights if you're away from home without some sort of connection.

If Apple adds HomeKit support to iCloud, then your phone would have a backend to talk to.

The next step would be getting some device to sit in your house to send the raw messages to all the devices. Maybe this will be built into the next Airports, or could be launched as a separate device. This device would be able to use the iCloud connection.

When you're away from home you could tell your phone to turn off the lights, it would send a message via iCloud which would be picked up by the base station at home.

Tried finding my updated #secret stats using #mitmproxy but the app crashes due to a bad cert. In the process, I discovered that the app used to be named "Whispr" in development. This is the logs that were sent to bugsnag.com when the app crashed: https://gist.github.com/aaronpk/46e1b3161514ef874019

Thinking about two-factor auth at a nano level, requiring human confirmation before any client can actually post to your site via your micropub endpoint.

For example, I sign in to barnaby's experimental Taproot interface but don't trust it entirely yet. Instead of giving him blanket access to post to my site, every time his app makes a request to my micropub endpoint, it goes and asks me for confiramtion before publishing.

Either OOB confirmation (2-factor auth via SMS or something) or an OAuth-like confirmation dialog from the same browser window.
